#Creative #Manure

Found myself trying to explain C.O.P.E. - create once, publish everywhere.  Something that I try very hard to achieve when I create my blog on Blogger it then turns the first bit into a Tweet, shoves that out on Facebook, I tried to link my Tumblr, Pinterest, Buzzfeed and WordPress accounts as well, that didn't work very well though.

So back to a great analogy for C.O.P.E. See the stuff you create as great steaming pile of manure now spread it around the garden to help all the flowers and plants grow.  That's kind of what you do, with, in my case, my blog being the smelliest and biggest pile of the lot.

OK so some of this stuff doesn't translate very well to more visual social media like Pinterest and Buzzfeed, but you can visualise this content and link back to the original blog.  So lets hear it for social manure - I hope you spread some of your own around real soon.

Brucie steps down

Bruce Forsyth gets canned by the #BBC.  When Bruce had the same thing happen to him on ITV in I think 2002.  Bruce had to attend, what he thought was just another meeting at the ITV Network Centre, that was in ITN Headquarters in Grays Inn Road.  The Network centre was on the 5th floor I believe and Bruce jumped into the lift with LBC's Chris Lowrie, now LBC's studios were in the basement, or the lower atrium as ITN liked to call it.

"Am I going in the right direction for the ITV Network Centre?" - asked Bruce to Chris.  I am afraid Chris couldn't help himself and said. "No Bruce you want to go higher, higher." (and did the hand actions)

"Aw gawd I suppose I asked for that." Bruce said mercifully laughing.

Fawlty Pru

Scales admits she has early Alzheimer's.  There were signs of it in the glorious More4 series 'Great Canal Journeys'  she and her husband the actor Timothy West starred in recently.  I've done Pru a couple of times in the past, she a feisty determined lady.  I remember on one of the occasions she said:  "I will talk about Fawlty Towers, but don't expect much, it was a long time ago and I don't remember much about it."

It seems such an unkind twist of fate that her short term memory loss is suffering and has made her long term memories more acute and clear.  If you haven't caught 'Great Canal Journeys' -  the series that ended on Monday night do More4 a view of it.

Humble Pie

BLOG ALERT How #radio can change the world. It was with some trepidation I made my way to our local community radio station this morning, I have come into contact with people from these micro-local radio stations.  Some are just doing it for an ego trip, cherry picking the best shows for themselves and letting the odd volunteer host the graveyard shift, whilst others truly want to create powerful local radio for the whole community.

So what a refreshing and inspiring discovery that 'Chelmsford Community Radio' falls very much into the latter category.  The station has studios in the creaky old Moulsham Mill, that is 'full of ghosts who conspire to take the station off air.'  So says Matt Eaves the enthusastic 'boss' of the station.

CCR currently streams on the internet and has plans to apply for an Ofcom licence. When I arrived part-time actor and footy fan James House was presenting his Tuesday show whilst in the Production Studio, Scott, Greg and Carl were setting up their Wednesday show.

Sounds [sic] all very pedestrian until you realise that James uses a wheel chair and I am told by Matt that Scott and Greg have the co-ordination and speech disorder dyspraxia.  Talking to the guys I found they were carefully structuring their show, picking music, sorting the links out, doing stuff in the same way and with the same values as the 'professionals.'

Everyone at CCR is full of enthusiasm and passion, this is a 'good thing' and was happening right on my doorstep.

I have taken a listen to the station, it is raw, it is fun, the presenters are enjoying themselves and as each week passes they are sounding more confident. I truly hope that Ofcom allows CCR to broadcast in what is the very birthplace of radio - the city of Chelmsford.   (Picture Scott, Greg and Carl on air, credit Twitter)
