Journalist v Producer

What is the difference between a Journalist and a Radio Producer? Here's a sculptural analogy. The Journalist is the person who makes the clay, checks the quality of the clay, makes sure that there are no air bubbles in the clay and then produces a clear square block of clay. The Radio Producer is the person who takes that clay and moulds and shapes the clay into that lovely jug.
